**Please note: Kathleen is not accepting new patients at this time.  She is temporarily out of the office. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Kathleen Menten is a board certified, licensed Psychiatric Nurse Clinical Specialist, Acupuncturist, and Chinese Herbalist.

In her practice at Integrated Therapies, Kathleen integrates acupuncture, psychotherapy and herbs in a highly effective treatment package.
In addition to her part time private practice at Integrated Therapies, she is currently the Program Coordinator responsible for the development of the Complementary and Integrative Medical Service for the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer at Johns Hopkins. Kathleen provides acupuncture and teaches the mind-body class at Hopkins.

Kathleen’s passion is helping people to find meaning in their current state and to re-write their story when their current reality does not appeal to them. She is a die hard eclectic, drawing from many traditions to help people. Her acupuncture style reflects this. It is a combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element, and Auricular Acupuncture. This combination allows for symptom management while the underlying balance is also being addressed. Herbs constitute an important part of her individualized treatment plan. Mind-body approaches for overall well being, symptom and pain control are an integral part of Kathleen’s treatment focus.

Kathleen has been practicing acupuncture and herbology since 1986 and psychiatric nursing (counseling) since 1969. In addition to her certificates in acupuncture and Chinese herbology and Masters Degree in psychiatric nursing, Kathleen holds certificates in Western Herbology, Rational Emotive Therapy and Creating Health Mind-body approaches.

Psychological symptoms may also be addressed with both acupuncture and mind-body techniques. The effect of combining acupuncture with counseling is expanded awareness. Increasing one’s awareness helps to define a problem, to look at the behavior patterns creating and maintaining it, and to learn what people, places, and issues carry an emotional charge that triggers us negatively. Acupuncture helps a person to release negative emotions, repressed emotions from early traumas, and internally generated negativity.
